Weather on Cozumel Island

Posted: under Travel.

It just doesn't get any better than the weather on Cozumel. With an incredible low of only 66 degrees Fahrenheit to a modest high of 93, even the worst of what we would call "winter" is still quite wonderful. Most of the time, the temperature hovers around the mid to high eighties and, incredibly, so do the surrounding ocean waters of the island. Lying in the midday, summertime sun, in temperatures around 90 degrees and then "cooling off" in the ocean waters of about 80 to 85 degrees is unimagin...

The charming handicrafts of Northern Thailand

Posted: under Travel.

For many visitors to Chiang Mai, the culture of Northern Thailand is best represented by the beautiful temples and endless trekking in the mountains. There is however more to this area than colourful hill tribes and elephant rides. Many people have now discovered the fantastic shopping including the Baan Tawai craft centre, which can be found just to the south of the city. Among the many bargains here are a huge selection of handicrafts and cultural souvenirs. Chiang Mai has a famous Night Bazaa...

5 Things I Love About Living in Thailand

Posted: under Travel.

I love having a pool I went down to the pool in my apartment building today after work and swam for a while. When I got back to my apartment, it struck me that having my own pool (okay, I do share it with the other people in my building but I am usually in it by myself) is one of the things I love about living here in Thailand. It is hot enough here in Bangkok that I can swim all year round. I am sure I'll get to the stage that I feel it is too cold for that one month of the year when the temper...

Malton History, Malton Tourist Information, Malton, North Yorkshire

Posted: under Travel.

The town stands on the site of a former Roman settlement, although no firm conclusion has been agreed upon as to which this settlement actually was. The uncertainty surrounds, in particular, the exact location of the Roman town of Derventio. Contradictory records describe Derventio as being either 7 or 17 miles east of York.  The former is consistent with the site of a Roman settlement known to have existed in proximity to the current village of Stamford Bridge, in which case the settle...

Destination Holiday

Posted: under Travel.

Hey you, where you going on holiday this summer? Kayaking in the Andes, golfing in Russia or sunbathing in Thailand? Is this going to result in a washout drinking spree, a fall-in-love with local girl heartache story or a thief stole my purse anecdote? How many times do people utter 'where shall we go this year'? Is it to be hot or cold, adventure or boring, sun, sex, sand or shopping? A bit of one and a bit of another might be good, or two of one and three of another might be even better, but...

Wat Doi Suthep, Chang Mai - A Not So Spiritual Journey

Posted: under Travel.

The Buddhist Temples in Thailand are simply impressive. This is particularly true of Wat Doi Suthep, the mountain temple outside Chang Mai. Wat Doi Suthep More or less located on the top of Suthep Mountain, Wat Doi Suthep is a day trip from the city. You'll notice I didn't write an "easy" day trip. When the Thais build a mountain temple, they're serious about the mountain aspect. Suthep Mountain is large as is the road winding up it. I had planned to rent a mountain bike and ride up to it earl...

The climate and weather of Spain

Posted: under Travel.

Due to the important extension of land Spain comprehends and the different geographical areas it has, this country shows some different climates at some spots than at in others, although there are some general guidelines which can be applied to it as a whole. In general, all the different areas of Spain show some similarities at each season, although many times they show important differences as well. Despite of learning the general weather conditions of the country at any given time, it is rec...

Street Food in Thailand...A Smorgasbord For All The Senses

Posted: under Travel.

Like other Southeast Asian countries, food stalls are everywhere in the streets, markets and festivals of Thailand, providing an endless smorgasbord of aromas, color and flavors - food in Thailand is a feast for all of the senses. Picture a barbecue hotdog stand outside a North American sports stadium. Now, instead of hotdogs and buns sizzling on a grill, the food cart is laden with fresh bananas, which are slathered in batter and deep-fried to golden in a giant wok, then scooped into a paper ba...
